Injury is one of the biggest things a runner needs to deal with in order to stay on the road. For most of us, injury is part of the game. One tactic you can use to help prevent injury, or help you maintain your fitness level while injured, is water running. This week we take a closer look at water running and investigate the different ways it can be incorporated into your training routine. Direct link to the show.

The air in DC is really bad, so we can't breathe here. Plus, to add insult to injury, having a beer after a run isn't necessarily the best idea. Beer, like all alcohol, will dehydrate you and also keep your body from being as oxygen efficient as it would be without. So, don't drink prior to a race or the night before.

Today we have the fortune of trail running with three very impressive women, Ann, Christine and Lisa through Lake Fairfak Park in Reston, VA. All are successful working mothers who still manage to get their miles in. Anne is also the Director of the Women's Training Program, sponsored by the Reston Runners Club in Reston, VA, http://www.restonrunners.org/programs/wtp/index.htm.
Ann and the WTP have helped more than 1600 women work fitness into their lives and her efforts have been recognized by the Road Runners Club of American. The WTP has recieved the 2008 RRCA Nina Kuscik Women’s Development Running Award! Ann will receive the award at the RRRCA 50th anniversary meeting this May in Cincinnati, OH. The award is given each year to one person from the more than 750 clubs which make up the Runners Club of America - So that's pretty darned cool!

This week we take another run through an icy Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD and talk about... well not much at all. I really didn't have much to say this week and almost didn't produce this episode. At least the song in the middle is pretty good, IMO. Give it a listen for that, if not for anything else.
